Intercultural Encounters

In this section we carry out various cultural, educational and recreational events for Vietnamese and other immigrants and natives. These are sometimes held in the Intercultural Center WaldemarHof and for the most part in other institutions such as schools or clubs.

Objectives

• Integration of Vietnamese immigrants in the city of Rostock, while strengthening the cultural identity and self-esteem of immigrants
• in particular strengthening of the Vietnamese language as well as receipt and transmission of traditional cultural forms, maintaining customs and traditions particular to determine and holidays
• mutual acceptance of cultural characteristics and improved understanding in everyday life by sharing through regular meetings
• intercultural competence and improved knowledge on issues of migration and integration on all sides
• Development and strengthening of civic engagement in all target groups
• Degradation of foreign hostility and reservations

Activities

• Teaching the Vietnamese language and culture to children, adolescents and adults
• on demand organization and execution of various events, meetings and project days in schools and other institutions
• Teaching the German language as well as improvement of the orientation in everyday life for immigrant families
